Helping Self, Healing the World

I used to think helping others was the way to healing the world. Carrying groceries for someone struggling, holding a door for another. While these are all niceties and are noteworthy, still something remains missing.

Just the simplest form of holding a door for another. Brings great joy, but what about those who do not show gratitude for our good deed? Are we attached to the satisfaction we get from another’s gratitude? Our attachment will bring suffering sooner or later.

Remembering why we do things, if that is what we choose, letting go of outcomes or expected returns. Having no attachment to the deeds we do, our reward will be far greater. Sometimes it is merely worrying (or not worrying) about the self.

Healing the World

Our reality is our own…with an opportunity for change. We can choose to accept it or fight it. One yields ease and the other dis-ease.
Our reality is our own and others realities are their own. We can choose to accept theirs for face value or we can repel against them. Choosing to accept theirs…we alter our reality. Repelling against theirs, we are altering our reality.
Their reality is constantly changing just as our own. Accept it or fight, makes no difference…both have consequences.
At light speed or floating along effortlessly, we are continually expanding and contracting, ebbing and flowing.
We open the box, taking a peek at a new reality. What is this new reality? Like a child we anticipate joy and excitement that awaits. We have just opened a new reality…Ani Po
