Life Can Only Be Understood Backwards

Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards.~Soren Kierkegaard

In looking back on ones life, we could easily hold grudges or use events as excuses to why or why not things worked as they should have. Or we could simply accept them as they were, knowing we are exactly where we’re supposed to be. Again…it is merely a choice.

What if we are not where we would like to be? Then I guess the universal forces are calling to make necessary changes in our lives. There is always an opportunity for change and the time is always now. What holds us back?

Holding to the past, we cannot grasp the future. Letting go of the past, accepting everything as “it should be” we allow ourselves a clearer understanding of what we are to do. What is it that we are supposed to do? Live.

Living in the past we cannot fully live, as we are weighted down by the shortcomings or excuses to what might be. Look back, reflect…but then let go. A new day is upon us…a new opportunity to Live…

Life can only be understood backwards

Happy 4th of July!!!

Today millions of Americans will be celebrating their independence. On this day in 1776, the United States of America Declared its independence from Great Britain. It was not until nearly 200 years later that the United States government would make it a federal holiday.

As we celebrate our independence may we go deeper, deeper within the self. As we travel into the self, we find a false sense of freedom. Beyond this false sense of freedom, lay true freedom. Detaching from the outside world, reconnecting with the inner self, and accepting our true identity.

As we dive deeper into the self, self-realization becomes this… We are only as free as we believe we are. If we subscribe to the majority of thinking “we are free,” then we are not free. If we subscribe to the masses in thinking we can find happiness via material things, then we have not found happiness. True happiness lay within the self…we need not subscribe to any other beliefs but the self.

We act as though comfort and luxury are the chief requirements in life, when all we need to make us really happy is something to be enthusiastic about.~Charles Kingsley

The kingdom of heaven is within us all, why would we not look upon it? As we go deeper within itself, the universe dissolves. Dissolving this universe we unravel a new universe. A universe of freedom, truth, and pure love. In this universe there is no fear, anger, disbelief… Only Love.

In this universe of love we find peace, compassion, faith, hope, and pure bliss. Diving into the self, uncovering all the untruths,…only to rediscover truth. Let me say this or that is the way… As Lao Tzu said…it is not the way. Soren Kirkegaard said, “once you label me you negate me.” The way does not have a label, description, or if subscription for that matter… It nearly is The Way.

Stepping into the Canvas in freedom. Whether in America or another country, we too can have freedom. Whether we are in a democratic society or communist, we can have freedom. Freedom does not exist on the outside but it exists within the inside… Go there now, be free! Happy Fourth of July everyone!
